When the rebels or the protesters don't seek to change it or to remove it, then the current regime had nothing to do with the placement of the flag. The flag will thus remain the same. However when the flag somehow refers to the regime, then it will be overthrown with it. An obvious example is the French revolution where the rebels replaced the white monarchy flag with the "drapeau tricolore"symbol of Paris and its uprising.
The Arab Spring also fits in. The Libyan rebels replaced the Jamahiriya (Colonel Gadhafi’s regime)'s green flag with the Libyan kingdom's flag. Same thing in syria: demonstrators were seen replacing the flag of the Baath Arab Syrian Republic with the 1936 French mandate flag. Lebanon’s Cedar revolution of 2005 however kept the original flag for a very good reason. The flag was the only symbol that could have united back then the18 Lebanese confessions and the multiple political parties. It was also one of the main symbols of Lebanon’s struggle for its independence in 1943. The “second independence" from Syria would thus require an excessive use of the flag so the crowds will appear united and patriotic. Using a new flag could have been misleading.
Another reason is that before the current flag was made the Lebanese republic was under the French mandate and the flag back then strongly illustrated it: three vertical blue, white and red straps (the French flag colors) with a cedar in the middle white rectangle. Such a flag will be more adequate to a French revolution, than a Lebanese one. If we go further in time we will notice that the Lebanese never had a patriotic flag before 1945.Both the Lebanese moutassarrifiat(1860-1914) and the ka'emmakamiyateyn(1840-1860) political systems used the Turkish ottoman flag or a variant of it.Before then, Lebanon was governed by the Chehabite dynasty. 'Why blue?' is a question that every Lebanese person asks himself when he sees the Tayyar el Moustaqbal(future movement)'s flag.
It does not have the pan-Arab colors (white, black,green, red), it does not contain the green Muslim color (most of the party's partisans are Sunni Muslims), and it doesn't have a cedar such as most of the Christian parties. It is simply blue, with a sun-like white logo on the left. A normal Lebanese citizen would have answered that it's referring to a sky enlightened by a sun, which reminds us with the famous phrase "wel sama zarka"( meaning "as long as the sky is blue" and widely used during the 2009 electoral campaign by the future movement). However, after taking a good look at the flag, you can find it very similar to the flag of the chehabist principality of Lebanon. The Chehabist Flag is blue with a white crescent in the middle. Like most of the Future Movement's supporters, the Chehab Dynasty, while supporting the Maronite Christians was officially a Sunni Muslim family.

While most of the Nasserite and Palestinian factions use pan-Arab colors (i.e. Baath, Fatah, Union Party), the vast majority of Christian parties is known for having the cedar on its flag (golden for the National Liberal Party, green for the Lebanese Social Democratic Party-Phalangists- and for the Marada and the Lebanese Forces, just to name a few).The Cedar along with the removal of the black pan-arab color is believed to be used by those parties in order to counter the Muslim-Arab influence and to prevent an affiliation of Lebanon to a United Arab country where Muslims will be the vast majority.
While the Amal movement's flag is known for its green Islamic flag containing the movement's initials, the other Shiite party Hezbollah has a flag very similar in design to the Iranian Pasdaran's flag. The Soccer Gaming Awards 2011
2011 has been and gone, which means it’s time for the inaugural Soccer Gaming Awards (presented by yours truly). As ever, comments are hugely appreciated and this is all up for debate ,so if you disagree vehemently (or agree fervently) then let me know in the comments below!
The Why FIFA is Better than PES Award
People will argue that FIFA is better than PES (or that PES is better than FIFA) until either one company goes out of business or the world comes to an end – and i’m guessing the latter. So rather than bluntly saying which game I think is better, i’m presenting the best argument for each side, and thus we have this award for why FIFA is the best.
Career Mode
EA Sports have outdone themselves this year with a lot of work having been put in to the new career mode. It’s been revamped considerably, with many of the faults of the past few years gone completely and replaced by clever features. The transfer deadline day system is a blast and I can see it featuring in PES 2013 (although it originated in Football Manager anyway, so it’d be plagiarising plagiarism), but the main fantastic element of the career mode was the morale system. Players getting upset, worrying about salaries, worrying about matches, team underachieving (etc etc). Good show EA. More like this in the future, please.

Baichung upbeat to lead national football team for last time
NEW DELHI: Former Indian football captain Bhaichung Bhutia is not fully fit to last full 90 minutes against Bayern Munich in his farewell exhibition match on Tuesday but is upbeat that he will lead the national team one last time against the top European side.
"I am mentally fit and prepared. But in terms of physical fitness I am not 100 per cent in the sense required to play against a top international side like Bayern Munich. But I will give my best," Baichung said.
"I will start the match for sure and want to play full 90 minutes but let's see. The injury I had suffered is such that it can occur anytime. I hope I don't get injured," said Bhutia who appeared to be in full flow during the team training session under the watchful eyes of coach Savio Medeira.
Baichung admitted that there was no question of comparing the national team with Bayern Munich but said Tuesday's match would be an opportunity for the Indian players to find out how much they need to improve.
"You cannot compare the Indian team with Bayern Munich which is as good as the German national side. But it's an opportunity for the players to know how much they need to work on to take themselves to the level of top international players," he said.
"But we want to do well. For me, it is just enjoying my last match and enjoying the moment. International players normally retire during a tournament or an international match but that did not happen for me due to injury. But I feel honoured to play my farewell match against a top side like Bayern Munich," added Baichung, who retired from international football last year.
Baichung said he wants to make United Sikkim, the club he owns and plays, to be the model side in the country by making it a successful team.
"I don't need to be in the All India Football Federation now but will contribute to Indian football by making United Sikkim a successful side in the country in terms of the results and financial viability," he said.
"United Sikkim is important for Sikkim as well as the country. It is important that investors come in the game and that can happen if the clubs are successful and financially rewarding. So I want to make United Sikkim successful. It is a challenge and I want to do it.
"I have another project in Baichung Bhutia Football Schools through which I can contribute in grassroot development in the country," said Baichung, who has played more than 100 international matches with nearly 50 goals.
India has named 23 players for the exhibition match but coach Savio Medeira said whether all the players will be fielded will be decided at the meeting of managers tomorrow.
"I am mentally fit and prepared. But in terms of physical fitness I am not 100 per cent in the sense required to play against a top international side like Bayern Munich. But I will give my best," Baichung said.
"I will start the match for sure and want to play full 90 minutes but let's see. The injury I had suffered is such that it can occur anytime. I hope I don't get injured," said Bhutia who appeared to be in full flow during the team training session under the watchful eyes of coach Savio Medeira.

It's clear that somebody besides Richardson needs to step up in this game to take some of the burden off of him and to free him up a little bit.
As the #1 receiver, Marquis Maze had a nice year (56 rec, 627 yds) but actually had two less TDs then he had last year as the #2 receiver option behind Julio Jones. Brad Smelley is a nice option to have a TE (27 rec, 4 TD) but Bama really needs for Darius Hanks, Kenny Bell or one of the other receivers to make some plays against the Tigers defense. When Bama played LSU, Maze had six receptions and the only other receiver to make a catch was Hanks (he only had two).
It will be very interesting to see how close to the vest Alabama plays this game. The last game was a game of field position with Bama missing four FGs (all four were from 40+ yards with two of them being 50+ yard attempts).
